Hives daily observation 14/10/2021

In Sydney, it is raining last 4 days. Everything is wet and soggy. Today is a party cloudy morning and the Sun is shining – bees are happy, flying for foraging and cleansing after few days staying inside of hives with no ability to get out.

After 3PM the weather has changed and thunderstorm has started forming. At 4PM were heavy wind, rain and golf size hails – the entrance roof got smashed as well as lots of garden damage. Lost around 70% of peaches and lots of broken grapevines branches. Hives have survived with no issues – there are fence and trees protect them from prevail strong winds.

Hives Daily observation 10/10/2021

6 days since the last inspection. Hot morning, +27 at 10AM. Forecast predicts thunder and heavy rains for today. At midday, strong east wind brought fresh air, clouds started forming rainy skies.

Hive 1 – busy and bearing a bit. Hope new queen got matted already. Depends on weather will do next inspection in 5-6 days.

Hive 2 – same busy but crowding on external wall more than Hive 1. Hive 2 still shows a bit aggressive behaviour since last inspection, potential queen replacement would be needed.

Split nuc – looks good and bringing pollen.
